Sarawak's fascinating array of people and the richest ecosystem in the
world had attract a lot of visitor to venture to this places.
However, Sarawak is covered a lot of mountains and forests and it is
impossible to venture all places in short time.
Thus, the plan for Cultural Village had been made in the
1980s. Moreover, the whole Damai area had already been identified as a
zone of tourism which made the work easier. At that time, the Santubong
Bridge still wasn't link the road from Kuching to the sea. This
inconvenience had ended during 1988 when the road to and from the
Santubong Bridge was built.
Sarawak's ethnic diversity could be seen then. Bidayuh,
Orang Melanau and Ulu, Iban long House, Malay Village House, Chinese
Farm House and Penan Hut were included in this big project which was
about 17 acres.
Now, visitors can enjoy the Sarawak living museum's
heritage of the major racial groups. They will surely impressed with the
45 minutes cultural performance of dances and song. |
